Understanding Alabama Teacher Testing Requirements 

To earn your Professional Educator's Certificate in the state of Alabama, the Department of Education requires you to demonstrate mastery through the Praxis series. Most candidates must pass: 

  • Content Knowledge: The Praxis Subject Assessments specific to your teaching field.
  • Professional Pedagogy: The Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT) exam, which covers instructional design and student-centered delivery.

Candidates seeking a Class A or Class AA Professional Leadership Certificate in Alabama are required to pass:
  • Praxis Educational Leadership: Administration and Supervision (5412)
