All About MTCC 114:
Learning Disabilities

The Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) is a series of tests designed to evaluate the knowledge and skills of prospective teachers seeking certification in the state of Michigan.

Test code 114, also known as the MTTC Learning Disabilities test, is one of the tests in this series that is specifically designed to evaluate the knowledge and skills of prospective teachers in the area of learning disabilities.

The MTTC Learning Disabilities test is a computer-based test that consists of 100 multiple-choice questions. The test is divided into four subareas, each of which assesses a different aspect of learning disabilities.  You have 2 hours & 30 minutes to complete it.

The four subareas and their respective weighting are:
  1. Understanding Students with Learning Disabilities (13%)
  2. Assessing Students with Learning Disabilities and Developing Individualized Programs (27%)
  3. Teaching and Promoting the Development of Students with Learning Disabilities (47%)
  4. Working in the Professional Environment (13%)

The test is designed to assess the candidate's knowledge and skills in areas such as the characteristics of learning disabilities, assessment and diagnosis of learning disabilities, instructional strategies and accommodations for students with learning disabilities, and the professional roles and responsibilities of teachers in the field of learning disabilities.

To pass the MTTC Learning Disabilities test, candidates must achieve a score of at least 220 on a scale of 100 to 300. Test takers who do not pass the test on their first attempt may retake the test after a waiting period of 30 days.

It is recommended that candidates prepare for the MTTC Learning Disabilities test by reviewing the test framework and taking practice tests. Study materials and resources, including test frameworks, practice tests, and test taking strategies, are available in this boot camp.

Mrs. Nicole Kenngott

Nicole Kenngott is a fifth-grade teacher at Plumb Elementary and was named Pinellas County Schools' 2019 Teacher of the Year.

Kenngott began her career with Pinellas County Schools four years ago. She has Master’s degree from Dowling College in Oakdale, NY and has a teaching style that uses innovative teaching strategies steeped in the philosophy of a “Growth Mindset”, AVID strategies, CHAMPS and Restorative Practices.  

Plumb Elementary Principal Sandra Kemp said that Kenngott has a positive impact on the entire school community. “She often leads parent curriculum events, attends PTA functions, interprets for parents who are deaf or hard of hearing, supports activities for our students with autism, and attends sports events to cheer on some of her students.

Mrs. Kenngott is a champion for children and for continual learning.
